St. Ives---Duluth, GA

St. Ives is my home course.  I play it often and I like it a lot.  I am probably biased because everyone knows my
name there and they treat me w
ell.  However, the bottom line is that it is a really solid golf course.

It is a Tom Fazio designed course and in keeping with his standard protocol the course is beautiful and playable.
There are two terrific holes crafted in the "Heroic School" of golf.  They are par 3's that require lengthy water
carries.  In fact, the signature hole of the course is one of these heroic holes and it is the 11th.  The other is the
15th, which is pictured below.

The challenge at St. Ives is the tightness of the fairways.  If you can drive the ball and hit long irons at St. Ives, you
can do it anywhere.  The greens and the requirements for the short-game are not as demanding at St. Ives as
they are at other courses, but given the issues that the narrow fairways bring into play that only makes the course
fair and playable.

The variety among the holes is great…some are long and require some "umph", while some are short and require
precision.  If you bring your ego to this course and insist on hitting driver on every hole, you will be punished.  3
woods, 3 irons off the tee will prove to be wise choices if you want to score well.

The course is always attractive, but if you are lucky enough to play it during the Spring time when the
azelias are coming out, you will see the course at its most spectacular.

I generally play the green tees which measure 6,631 and is rated 72.2/140.
