Longaberger--Nashport, OH
-#1 public course in Ohio (Golfweek)
-57th best public course in the U.S (Golf Mag.)
-9th best course in Ohio (Golf Digest)
Longaberger proved to be one of the most pleasant surprises in my golf course exploring career. I had just played
Cascata for $500, Great Waters for $250, and now I was traveling to Ohio to play a course for $59. I was very
nervous about the whole idea.
Frankly, I was blown away. The clubhouse was excellent. The service was terrific. But most importantly, the course
was absolutely fantastic!
There is a great variety of challenges to deal with. Some holes have terrific length, some offer the challenge of
accuracy, while others present elevation changes. You will see it all at Longaberger. Hole #8 made is wild and
wonderful. From the tee box you can decide to challenge the hole with a booming drive to a narrow landing area or
play the safer shot but have to deal with an extreme slope. Either way you go, you will have to deal with a peninsula
green. Very nice hole.
Longaberger really fits my style...extreme challenges, followed by breathers.
The condition of the course is very good. However, it is a public course that gets a fair amount of play. So the
greens will not be overly fast and will have some ball marks on them. In my opinion, this is all to be expected given
the quality of the golf course design, the affordability of the round, and the beauty of the area.
The bottom line is that Longaberger is an excellent course which is very deserving of the high acclaim it receives. In
my book, it is a must play as it ranks right up there with the best of them concerning quality of golf per dollar spent.
The course is designed by Arthur Hills and the blue tees measure 6,498 yards and are rated 71.3/132.
