Golf Club of Georgia--Alpharetta, GA
-12th best course in Georgia (Lakeside) (Golf Digest)
The Golf Club of Georgia is 36 holes of top-tier, top-notch golf. If you are a real golfer, this course is for you.
The two courses are listed as Creekside and Lakeside. However, among the members they are known as the
impossible course and the extremely challenging course. Seriously, if you are not a true golfer with excellent
skills…don't play this one.
The greens are fast…so fast that pros who have played it have said that the greens at GC of GA are faster than
Augusta Greens during the Masters. Believe it or not…it doesn't matter. The fact that pros say that means only
one thing…the greens are lightning fast. To make matters worse, the staff at the club seems to enjoy putting the
pins right in the middle of the sloped portions of the green so that if you don't hole the putt you will roll way away
from the hole and have another long fast putt.
To further attest to the courses difficulty, the designer Arthur Hills said the following "there is no doubt that
Creekside is a strong test". He is right!
Many of the holes are fantastic and, in fact, the 11th on Lakeside in a truly great hole. It is a wonderfully beautiful
and brutal par 5.
The club has been a long time supporter of amateur golf and has been hosting The Georgia Cup since 1998 and
The U.S. Collegiate Champions since 2006.
Creekside from the blues measures 6,660 and is rated 73.4/138, while Lakeside measures 6,552 and is rated
72.4/136.
I highly recommend this course for anyone who thinks they are good at this game and they want to put their entire
game to the test. Score well and you are a real golfer…score poorly and go home, practice some more and try
this beast again.
