Westin Mission Hills North—Palm Springs, CA
Frankly, I found this course quite enjoyable. However, I think I might be in the minority on this one.
For starters the course is not pure lush green, like most of the resort courses in Palm Springs. The fairways and
greens are very green, but the rough is a little brown in spots. However, I have absolutely no issue with this
whatsoever. But I think most people see this as a negative.
As for the course itself, I thought it brought one interesting challenge after another. Some holes were narrow and
skinny, while others were wide and long. Some par 3’s required heroic carries over water, while others had
massive bunkers replacing the water hazards.
The approach into most greens left players with the option to bump and run it or carry one in their on the fly.
And although this was certainly a neighborhood golf course, the views of the surrounding mountains were quite
stunning.
The course was designed by Gary Player and measures 6,643 from the gold tees and is rated 71.3/124.
