Indian Wells (Players)—Palm Springs, CA

-Ranked the 10th best public course in CA

The Indian Wells resort is located in Palm Springs, California.  In addition to the courses being part of the resort,
they are also technically muni’s.  Along those lines, the courses I played in the desert are some of the best muni’s I
have ever played.

The Players course is the most difficult of the courses located at Indian Wells and measures 6,913 yards from the
blue tees and is rated 73.3/134 and was designed by John Fought in 2007.

The conditioning of the course is fantastic as are the variety of the challenges presented on the course.  The
yardage on the par 3’s measure out at 200, 207, 165, and 144 and you are required to carry water, bunkers, and
negotiate a severe downhill approach.  The par 4’s range from yardages of 305 to 456 and will require you to think
off the tee and not simply reach from driver and grip it and rip it.  The course only has three par 5’s and all
measure over 500 yards.

One of the coolest things about the courses at Indian Wells is the firmness of their fairways and the receptiveness
of the greens to a ground approach.  You have to factor in how much extra roll out your full shots will experience,
while being open enough to consider an aerial or ground approach to the green.

In short, the course requires you to think on each and every shot in order to maximize your chances of success on
this par 71 challenge.
