Eugene Country Club--Eugene, Oregon

Rankings as of 10/24/2011--
-70th Best modern US course (Golfweek)
-85th best US course (Golf Digest)

Eugene Country Club was originally designed by Chandler Egan during the original US Golden Age of golf
architecture.  During Robert Trent Jones days of glory in the 60's, he got his chance to redesign Eugene.  And, in
total, I think he did an excellent job.

Eugene has a few issues that it has to deal with.  First and foremost, it is right smack dab in the city of Eugene.
Given this, they don't have gobs and gobs of acreage to work with.  So, every square inch of the property needs to
be utilized to it maximum.  And it is.  The routing is excellent.  The course twist and turns through the trees on the
property quiet well.

It actually felt to me like the Oregon version of Harbour Town in that regard.  Which is to say, it is not a bombers
course.  Instead, it is golfing technicians course.

Also, the course has to deal with the climate of Oregon.  Wet and damp.  No worries there.  The super at Eugene
has got this covered.  He's got the course draining well and the green running smooth as silk.

Eugene Country Club is a fun members course that I would encourage anyone to play.  I guarantee you'll have fun.
