The Bear’s Club—Jupiter, FL

Rankings as of 5/10/2010
15th best course in Florida (Golf Digest)

As you would suspect, The Bear’s Club is a Jack Nicklaus designed course.  In fact, he has a house just down the
road from the course and is frequently on the premises.  There is a big statue of Mr. Nicklaus as you enter the
clubhouse, a golden stuffed Polar Bear, and many, many, many of his trophies strewn throughout the clubhouse.
There is absolutely no doubt that this is a first class club and no expense was spared during construction.

The course itself appears to be set up for the elite players of the world to hone their skills.  In fact, Ernie Els was on
the practice range hitting balls with his coach as I was getting ready to tee it up.  As you would guess with this type
of clientele, the course has many features typically seen on the Tour courses; immaculate conditioning, fast
greens, penal bunkers, forced carries, and tight lies.

Take a gander at hole #4.  Here is your tee shot…

And here is your approach…

Nothing like a forced carry off the tee, fairway bunkering in the landing area, cross bunkers which provide another
forced carry on the approach, and a domed green with greenside bunkers at the conclusion of the hole.  Fun, fun,
fun!!!

Take a peak at another tee shot…

And then the approach to the green on 18.

Bring your “A” game and a few extra sleeves of balls if you get a game at The Bear’s Club.

From the Blue tees, it measures 6,598 yards and is rated 73/147.
