The highly esteemed Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw designed Bandon Trails at the world-class Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. Trails is a links-style course, but doesn’t actually play by the sea. Rather it plays through the forest and dunes at the resort.
Given this differing topography, the holes and eclectic in nature and will challenge golfers in many different ways.
At times, the make-up of the dunes will require precision off the tee…
While at other times, horse power will be the key…
But all in all, you need your “A” game at Bandon Trails the course will require clear thinking, accurate assessment of the risk/reward decisions, and great ball striking.
The course could be among the very best courses I’ve ever played if the last few holes kept the flow and the vibe of the course going rather than make it disjointed and different. However, despite this…it is really good…just not GREAT.
