2012 Agenda
To be frank, 2011 was the best year of my life. My family had a great year. My business continued to prosper. My
health continued to improve. And so many great things happened on the golf front. To focus on golf related items:
-I made my first trip to Scotland, my first trip to Bandon Dunes, became a member of Dismal River,
and visited many more amazing golf courses.
-I became heavily involved in golf-related charitable endeavors with a focus on The First Tee of Atlanta,
where I serve on the Board.
-My handicap broke into single digits, bottoming out at 7.6.
-And I spent some time with some amazing people, who I hope will be friends for life.
With all that, I don’t expect 2012 to top 2011. But I have high hopes for a great year. During the course of the year,
I have a few golf-related goals.
#1—I will strive to never take a mulligan. Now, this might be tricky as many people I play with like to play
matches where you get two tee shots on the first tee. But I won’t take the “free” and accepted mulligan, not
once; not ever.
#2—In the games I play, all putts need to be holed out; one-inchers…one-footers…for birdie…for quadruple
bogey. All putts will be holed out. Period.
These goals are designed to enforce humility and discipline and to honor the game I love by respecting its rules in a
very basic, but yet dogmatic, fashion.
Furthermore, I will be starting a charity golf tournament aimed at igniting people’s desire to give and to serve
others. I have a pretty unique format for this multiple round tournament and I hope I have success with it.
I am also very near the point of committing to play 100% with hickory clubs and era specific golf balls. I am not sure
what it is about hickory golf that I love so much, but I just, plain and simply, love it.
So, that is it. If 2012 can be half as good as 2011, I’ll be in good shape. To all of you, have fun and sink some
putts!!
