15 at World Woods Pine Barrens--->short par 4 with a decision to make
This hole plays only 317 tee to green from the back tees and you can drive the green or get pretty close. BUT,
if you don't carry the ball enough or are wild on your approach you will be wet or in some nasty sand. Of
course, you could play it safe and run it up the fairway on the left. But how much fun is that?!?!?
#11 at The Renaissance Club
Renaissance is a private club in Scotland and unlike many courses in Scotland not many people have played
this course. Trust me on this one, they are missing out. The 11th hole is my favorite on the course as the hole
begins to march towards the sea and the bunkering and green are truly outstanding. The hole is a standout
hole on a great course.
11th at Shinnecock Hills
This is one of the world's truly great par 3's. From the middle tees, it plays only 160-ish...but like AW Tillinghast
once said, "It isn't how long, but how good." And this hole is spectacular. The tee shot plays uphill to a green
that gives the appearance of an infinity green. But lurking behind the green is a sharp falloff and diabolical
collection area. If you do go long, you'll be chipping back to a green that slopes away from you and feeds right
into some deep and nasty bunkers. A word of advice, hit the green on your tee shot!!
13th at Harbour Town--Twisting and turning through the fairway and then THE bunker
Harbour Town in and of itself is a wonderful gem, but hole 13 at Harbour Town is one of the best golf holes I
have ever played. First and foremost, keep your drive to the right side of the fairway. If not, forget reaching the
green in two. But even if you keep that drive right...you've got to carry this massive bunker and hold a teeny-
tiny green. Awesome!!!
